Will be grateful for.
I just figured I'd give the Lead 12 a shot, dude had it on craigslist for 40 bucks, offered 30. It is missing one of the knob caps, hope to find a replacement cap/knob somewhere. It needed all of the pots cleaned and a scrub down, clearly in a basement for a long time. I am completely surprised at how good it sounds, the edge of break-up sound is pretty darn good, clean is better than I'd hoped for. It took a while, but finding the sweet spot with the gain and volume proved to be plenty tasty for my needs. The EQ has a big range, I like the stock Celestion G10-D25 at low volumes, quite articulate and broken in. I bet it sweetens up with volume.
I wish it was the reverb model, but oh well, I can find a pedal. All in all, a great amp for the money I paid. This is my first Marshall amp, I have had many amps over the years, Vox, Orange, Fender, Musicman, Sunn, Ampeg, Gibson etc., just never got around to Marshall.

I spent the afternoon playing it at apartment volume, the EQ has a whole bunch of great tones (very interactive mids/treble and Bass), even at really low volume. The gain stays clean up to noon, then has a bunch of medium gain sounds between 12-3 0 (quite tube-like), it gets creamy after 3 0 and cleans up nicely when the guitar volume is rolled back. No super high gain, but I don't do the brootz so that doesn't bother me. I highly recommend picking a Lead 12 up if you stumble over one, great Marshall tones at a low cost. Congrats on the amp, it looks like you got quite a nice one.
(hint: a little black shoe polish really makes the tolex look good - just go easy on it).I had the D-25 speakers in the mini-cabs that came with the 3005 'stack' related to your amp. While they were OK more or less, I tried two upgrades with very happy results.
I had an old Celestion Vintage 10 (which is now the G-10 I think) and that sounds like a little Vintage 30 with the presence peak. Even better was an Eminence Ramrod, which is fairly warm, but has strong bass for a 10 and is otherwise doesn't have any real vices. A Weber Blue Pup would also be a good choice.Just a suggestion that a little speaker upgrade would go a long way in that amp. Congrats again.
